Head Office – Assistant Accountant

Job Purpose:

The Assistant Accountant’s role is to support the finance department and management team bycompleting routine clerical and accounting tasks, maintaining ledgers and reports and completing accounting duties for the company. The role reports to the Finance Manager, and works closely with the Ledger Clerk and Finance Manager.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Preparing financial documents such as invoices and statements
  • Assisting with accounts payable and receivable duties
  • Liaising with Local Authorities with invoice/resident queries
  • Liaising with resident families over invoice payments/queries
  • Arranging Direct Debit Collections
  • Managing day to day transactions
  • Bank reconciliations
  • To initiate cheque/BACS runs and raise manual payments, as necessary
  • Assisting with month end reporting
  • Handling accruals and prepayments
  • Posting and monitoring petty cash
  • Processing personal and company expenses
  • Reporting on debtors and creditors
  • Carrying out basic payroll admin tasks
  • Working with the Finance Manager and Ledger Clerk to carry out ad hoc tasks.

  • team goals and objectives. Undertakes ad hoc tasks/projects as and when required.
  • Accuracy – Demonstrates a high degree of attention to detail. Logical and methodical approach.

Qualifications:

  • AAT is advantageous but not essential.

  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Sensitivity in relation to contact with family members
