Raising Money for Charity with Coffee and Cake!

Food, especially cake is a popular topic here at Lovett Care! We also like to our bit for worthy causes and September has given us the opportunity to enjoy cake based events and fundraising on two occasions this month.

September 2019 marks the 8th World Alzheimer’s Month. This is an important date in the calendar as it raises awareness and challenges the stigma that surrounds dementia. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common type of dementia in the UK. Its exact cause is not yet fully understood, so it is vital that funds are raised, and people are educated about the disease to help find a cure and to support those already living with the condition.

The 21st September 2019 was World Alzheimer’s Day and to mark the occasion Hilton House held an Afternoon Tea where residents, friends and family could tuck into a range of tasty treats and cups of tea. An enjoyable time was had by all involved and we raised £41 – well done to all who supplied and ate cake and tea and took part!

Another opportunity for cake, biscuits, coffee and tea comes in the form of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning on Friday 27th September. It is Macmillan’s biggest fundraising event for people facing cancer. Staff and residents at Lovett Care will be hosting a Coffee Morning and donating to Macmillan. Last year the fantastic funds raised topped over £27 million and this year Hilton House looks forward to contributing too.

Charity Events Builds a Sense of Community

Charity events are an important part of the social scene at Lovett care. They are fantastic opportunity to bring everyone together. Having activities and events to look forward to encourages interaction, which fosters friendships and stops isolation. It also creates a positive atmosphere as we all like to raise funds for causes which are close to the hearts of everyone associated with Lovett Care.
