Hilton House Care Home August Events

Our Summer Party at Hilton House went ahead on the 3rd of August, with activities including a cake sale, ice cream van, hook a duck, name the bear, entertainment, guess the number of sweets, and a raffle.

An enjoyable way of fostering community spirit within this residential care home in Stoke on Trent; all residents, staff and visitors had a great day raising a total of £165 for our resident’s funds.

Residents participated in making salt dough poppies joined by a group of 6th form students from the Stoke on Trent area.

We like to encourage interaction between different generations as it helps with communication and understanding and both parties benefit from a shared and fun experience. We regularly provide opportunities for college students in the area who are taking part in care related courses to gain valuable experience before entering this sector as a career.

Residents also enjoyed a mobile gift shop that came to the home giving them the chance to treat themselves or a loved one. For those who are unable to enjoy going out shopping this was a welcome opportunity to browse and purchase items for enjoyment and as gifts.

Bringing Back Memories at Hilton House Care Home in Stoke on Trent

We also held a Gentlemen’s Afternoon in our cinema lounge, the gents enjoyed an afternoon watching the 1966 World Cup Final with shandy and snacks.

Bringing back memories and creating the chance to recall and share experiences of a bygone event is a wonderful way of encouraging friendships which also helps as part of a dementia care programme. As we age some find it harder to recall recent events but can vividly remember events and experiences from decades ago.

Life at Hilton House Care Home in Stoke on Trent

Residents visited our local church St. Thomas in Penkhull on Sunday 18th August. Getting out into the community and taking part in the church service is a way to feel connected to the wider world and stops people from feeling isolated.

We have a pub lunch scheduled for the 27th Aug at The Britannia Pub in Bradwell and this outing happens once every month.

A coffee morning is scheduled every Friday where we hold a residents meeting together once a month.

Every other Saturday we play bingo with great prizes.
