Carers Week at our Residential Care Homes

June 10th marks the start of Carers Week, an annual campaign which is dedicated to raising awareness about the crucial role that carers play in our lives!

The week-long campaign highlights and sheds light on the challenges and hard work that carers put in every day of the week. Without our carers, none of the amazing work could be done at our residential care homes. So, it is only right that we do our part to recognise the tireless contributions that not only our carers offer, but which every carer that works up and down the country offers.

Carers Week 2019 at our Residential Care Homes

Did you know that there are 6.5 million carers in the UK? In fact, 10% of the UK’s population is classed as a carer, this includes those that work for a care home and those that act as the sole dependant for a family member or a friend who has a disability, mental or physical illness. Up and down the country, dedicated carers take the time to look after someone who needs extra help and this week is all about supporting those individuals and bringing them together.

Caring is a hugely rewarding experience! You can make numerous friends and form strong long-lasting relationships. However, with the hours, demand and nature of the work, it can also take its toll on your mental health.

With such a rapid and needed rise towards encouraging individuals to talk about their mental health. Carers week is also an opportunity to connect with those in a similar position to and get help, support and guidance from people who understand the ups and downs of being a carer for someone. Caring can be tough! But it is important to know that you are not alone and there are people to talk to.

Our ethos is to provide the best quality care at our residential care homes in Stoke on Trent. And that couldn’t be done without the help of our carers. So, we’re sure that all the residents and their families will join us in giving a huge thank you to everyone involved at Lovett Care.
